Donna Porter is an RYT and 2011 graduate of Yoga Springs Studio. Her yoga journey started in 2000 searching for alternatives to medication and surgery for her hip and back pain. She was seeing a chiropractor regularly and took a yoga class at a rec center. A friend introduced her to Monica and the Yoga Springs Studio in Yellow Springs, Ohio. This is when the physical healing began and a spark of interest originated to learn more. Donna studied under Monica Haysek for several years and was able to complete the teacher training program in 2011. Donna has a medical background consisting of BSN from BGSU and 24 years as a critical care nurse. Yoga not only alleviated her pain but fulfilled her caregiving soul. It also helped her to be physically stronger in order to manage the workload of the ICU. She realized that taking care of herself helped her be a healthier and happier nurse.
Donna continues to work as a nurse now taking care of breast cancer patients. She also teaches yoga 3 times a week at IUPUI. Donna feels that as a yoga instructor, she is able to “take care” of people in a different venue by addressing both physical and spiritual needs.
