Get to Know Your Teacher: Katie Clark

What is currently on your playlist?
I love music! Creating playlists for class is one of my favorite parts of this whole gig. My most recent playlist consists of Chet Faker, Trevor Hall, Bon Iver, Ben Howard, and ODESZA.
What are you reading right now?
I am always reading The Untethered Soul by Michael A Singer. I think I’m currently on my 8th time through and each time I gather something new from it. It has helped me so much in releasing anxiety and fear and living in the moment. For leisure, I’m reading Truly Madly Guilty by Lianne Moriarty.
Outside of yoga, what do you spend your time doing?
Outside of yoga, I am almost always with my family. My husband, Matt, and I have an 18-month-old son, Lawson, and a sweet pup named Quincy. I spend most of my days being a mama. Lawson and I like to read, play outside, go on walks, eat yummy food, and snuggle. Outside of raising a toddler, I work part-time at Carmel Eyecare where Matt practices optometry.
What are you learning or focusing on in your practice?
Physically, I’m working to heal my diastasis recti (separation of the abs) since pregnancy. Reconnecting to my core strength has been a huge challenge and I still have a long journey ahead of me.
I’m a big believer that what happens on my mat reflects in my life off my mat and vice versa, so I’m always working to find balance. Some days I practice handstands, other days I lay in child’s pose. Some days I eat leftover pizza for breakfast, other days I drink a green smoothie. Balance is key.
