She is fascinated by the art of stringing words together to create language. After graduating with honors, Sam started working in the hospitality industry. During her time in hospitality, she found her passion for yoga when she challenged herself to try something new and walked into Beyond Zen yoga studio in South Bend, IN with no clue what to expect. Yoga became her fundamental healing tool, and she wanted to share this healing practice with the world. In 2015 she received her 200hr certification in the jungles of Costa Rica, and she returned there in 2017 to get her 500hr certification. She has also been trained in trauma informed practices, reiki, chair yoga, children's yoga, and prenatal yoga. He discovered it when a neighbor loaned him a DVD entitled “Yoga Basics”. It didn’t take him long to fall in love with warm stretches, soothing voices, challenging poses, and the wonderful refreshed feeling after completing a class. Soon after that he discovered various yoga studios after gaining the courage to inquire about classes, he began attending on a regular basis. Teacher training came next under the guidance of one of Indy’s premier yoga instructors, Nancy Schalk. After graduating from the 200 hour class, he was asked to serve as Nancy’s assistant in her classes of thirty plus students. His primary responsibility was to offer hands on assists to students as needed. It was an honor hold this position and coupled with his training allowed him insight into different body types. Here he developed a deep insight into the notion of an individual edge and the beauty of each students search for their unique access to a pose. This provided the foundation from which he has taught ever since. She quickly realized her practice not only improved her strength and flexibility but also her life off the mat. She learned that her yoga classes helped her calm her otherwise active mind, and reminded her the importance of simply letting go. After practicing yoga for over 20 years, Kim decided to deepen her yoga practice by becoming a yoga teacher in 2022. She completed her teacher training with Ahna Hoke, learning the functional approach to her asana practice. Learning this approach felt freeing to Kim after years of her body being unable to experience certain yoga poses when applying traditional alignment principles. Kim enjoys sharing her love of all things yoga in her teaching. She hopes to inspire her students to be curious, to be gentle with themselves, and most of all, to have fun. When not on her mat, Kim enjoys running, biking, hiking and almost anything outdoors. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family, and her mischievous pup, Louie. Teaching Vinyasa is a natural extension of her athleticism, along with her life-long pursuit of mind, body and spirit connection. Deseri has practiced yoga for over 20 years and has been a certified yoga instructor since 2014 after having completed over 200 hours of teacher training under Marsha Pappas, Nikki Meyers and Dave Sims at Cityoga. She works with students of all levels to transform their minds and bodies into states of harmony and balance. In addition to teaching yoga, Deseri is a coach, facilitator and speaker and leads High Vibe Tribe yoga and meditation retreats for women. The class took place in the basement of a retirement home so the pace was extremely slow and the challenge was being content with that. She fell in love with it, and surprise, the connection she found was with herself. Over the years, moving from city to city, she has witnessed the many different styles and ways that yoga has flourished. She saw how people everywhere seem to find their way to the style that works best for them. As a teacher, she likes to offer experimentation in her classes. She has adapted classes to children and adults with special needs, has taught Ai Chi, which is similar to water yoga, and is certified in trapeze yoga (different than aerial). She is also very interested in Kundalini and the lineages of yoga as it moved from the Hindu region east, north, and eventually west. Michelle was certified with her 200 hour training in 2019 with Invoke, here in Indianapolis. Outside of yoga she spends too much time on the computer working in tech, helping family and friends in need, and spoiling her cats. She enjoys swimming and hiking. In college she found that yoga was a form of movement that brought acceptance and healing from the harmful narratives around body image and wellness often found in other exercise realms. On her mat, Isabella learned to be kinder to herself and celebrate all that her body CAN do, rather than harping on limitations or imperfections. She loves how yoga can be accessible to anyone regardless of disability, size, injury, or prior experience. Now, Isabella teaches yoga to help others find their strength and learn to love themselves as they are. Her classes are energetic and welcoming to all levels. After losing her mother a few years prior, she wanted to use that time to both learn what trauma-informed yoga looked like, and to turn inward—using that knowledge in approaching her own life. Raquel’s practice then pivoted from simply asana to a deeply emotional and spiritual practice. The bridge was connected and she wanted to bring these discoveries back to Indiana, on and off the mat. Slow flow is where she spends most of her time teaching, but she shares somatic work and ecstatic dance workshops as well. Balancing strong practice with restorative/yin options is important in her practice and teaching style. In her spare time, you’ll find her dancing in the sun spots around her house, cooking for loved ones, and getting messy with paints and oil pastels!
